You’ve been saying “I want to play college football” to anyone who’ll listen. But you’re not sure exactly how to go about it. The process will require more than just playing the game a lot and improving your skill. Here are a few things to get you started.
Favre Ends Retirement, Will Play For Minnesota
The retirement and un-retirement of Brett Favre is becoming an annual rite of the NFL preseason, and this year is no different. A few months after retiring from football after playing last season with the New York Jets, The Gunslinger is back in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, who’ll pay Favre $12 million bucks if he’s on the opening day roster.
BC Lions Send Toronto To Ninth Straight Home Loss
Its been a rough stretch of CFL football for the Toronto Argonauts, and they may have hit rock bottom on Friday night. The Argos entered the fourth quarter with a 25-14 lead but ended up on the wrong end of a 36-28 final score that ran their streak of futility at the Rogers Centre to nine games. It was also Toronto’s ninth consecutive loss to BC. BC improved to 3-4 with the victory, while Toronto’s record slipped to 2-5.
Falcons Hold On To Beat Bears
The Atlanta Falcons didn’t so much win their Sunday Night NFL Football game against the Chicago Bears as much as the Bears lost it. A series of costly mistakes and turnovers in the red zone negated an otherwise solid road effort for the Bears, as Atlanta held on to win 21-14 at the Georgia Dome. Chicago held a decisive edge in most of the statistical categories, but was undone by untimely turnovers. Atlanta improved to 4-1 with the victory while Chicago slipped to 3-2.
Liverpool FC Sell To Red Sox
The 300 million sale of Liverpool Football Club was finally completed this week as New England Sports Ventures (NESV) replaced former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette. NESV’s other ventures include Boston’s highly successful basketball team the Red Sox. All acquisition debts have been written off, significantly reducing the clubs debts from a total of 30 million a year to just 3 million.
Bad Times For Liverpool Football Club
Recently there has been much speculation over the future ownership of Liverpool Football Club, most notably a possible buyout by Chinese businessman Kenneth Huang. Back in 2008 he was linked to a possible sale of the club but lost interest after its 650m valuation; the club is currently valued at 350m.
Cowboys Slip Past Chiefs In OT
The Dallas Cowboys entered Sundays game with the Kansas City Chiefs with a 2-2 record, and may have expected an easy afternoon. The winless Chiefs, however, hung around throughout the contest and forced overtime before a Tony Romo touchdown pass to Miles Austin secured the victory for Dallas by a final score of 26-20. Austin was the Cowboys offensive star, catching two touchdown passes as part of a 250 yard receiving day. Tony Romo played better than he has all year, finishing with two touchdown passes and 351 yards with no interceptions. The Cowboys improved to 3-2 with the victory, while the Chiefs remain winless at 0-5.
Palmer Returns In Bengals NFL Preseason Loss To Saints
Despite losing to the New Orleans Saints in their NFL preseason opener 17-7, the Cincinnati Bengals had a lot to be happy about. Most significantly, they were elated over the return of QB Carson Palmer after he’d missed most of the last NFL season with an elbow injury. His return elated the city of Cincinnati, which led to mass celebration in the streets that their NFL football franchise once again had a serviceable quarterback.
Detroit Beats Washington To End Losing Streak
The Detroit Lions nineteen game losing streak is over. On Sunday afternoon at Ford Field in Detroit the Lions held on for a 19-14 win over the Washington Redskins. The Lions hadn’t won a game since December 23, 2007 and had already tied the second longest losing streak in NFL history. Their run of futility included a 0-16 mark in 2008, the first winless season since the NFL expanded its schedule to sixteen games.
